The EMTLAW Future Lawyers Internship Program pairs students, preferably enrolled in a Pre-Law Program at one of our partner universities, with attorneys in the DFW Metroplex to get hands-on, real world legal experience over the course of a semester. Most of these students are enrolled in a required internship class and participation in FLIP satisfies that requirement.

The students are vetted through the Pre-Law Program and the attorneys are recruited and vetted by the FLIP Team. Both students and attorneys go through an interview process so the best matches can be made.

Our Student Interns

The students in FLIP are college students who are interested in attending law school and/or pursuing a career in the legal field. These students are seeking legal experience, mentorship, and overall guidance and direction from seasoned attorneys and legal professionals. 

Our Attorneys & Legal Professionals

Our Attorneys and legal professionals are primarily private practitioners in the legal profession. They are willing mentors who have agreed to give students practical experience in their respective fields of legal expertise. These attorneys understand the importance of networking, so they have also agreed to serve as references and referral sources for the participating students, in addition to the every-day hands-on training they provide to the interns.

How to Apply

(1) Submit an application (as directed by the pre-law program or Ms. Turner)
(2) Submit to an interview with Ms. Turner and her program assistant; and
(3) Be eager to learn and committed to work the entire semester for the attorney with whom they have been assigned.
